Assignment Fourteen - #Trending on Social Media

Following the Weekend

There are seven days in every week, they end on a good not, but most often they start with the worst day ever, and that is Monday. Honestly, its not fair that Monday has to follow Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A perfect weekend is almost always killed by the first day of the work week, and honestly it has always taken the heat. However, Twitter is turning Monday into something positive, taking back the negative energy and kicking off the week in a new way.

#MondayMotivation and #MondayMorning are two hashtags that have reigned number one for trending on Twitter. As most of the world fights the battle every Monday morning to just wake up and start the day, Twitter has shown to want to change the rhythm of this day. In the society we live in, it is not uncommon to roll over and check social media first thing in the morning, and it can often influence how we start our mornings. If we see something sad or unsettling it cant start our day off on the wrong foot, or something that makes us laugh can give us a kickstart to get out of bed. Twitter hopes to be that kickstart every Monday morning and that is the best trend I could possibly thing of. A feed of #MondayMotivation would consist of a series of funny memes or videos that often follow the trend of making fun of the horrors of the day we all dread so much. However, it has also morphed into something more, a new outlook or a new thing to try that week. No matter what follows the hashtag, it aims to bring a bright start to the week. Whole Twitter accounts have been created just for the purpose of this hashtag, to inspire and motivate the start to a new week. Everyone can use a little pick me up on a Monday.

Monday is the end of the weekend. Monday is the start of the week. Everyone dreads Monday and we all feel the pain together. Social media seeks to change this rhythm by the popular, sometimes #1 treating hashtag on Twitter, #MondayMotivation. This hashtag floods the feeds of many as a way to put a smile on the viewers face or simply inspire a new idea to spark some change in the coming week. While #MondayMotivation may only appear once a week, its purpose resonates virtually twenty four, seven. This next Monday, check your feed, and get yourself a little #MondayMotivation.
