We Are All in This Together

When something crazy happens, something big enough to affect the entire world, it is often all we hear about. It floods our televisions screens, radio stations, and is on every media platform within our phones. Think about the coronavirus for example... fighting this virus has truly become a new way of life. We wear our masks in the store and to class, we stay six feet apart, and everyone is on their toes when we hear a cough. While it may seem like we are personally affected this virus, we are alone in the matter, the entire world is feeling, hearing about, and reporting this virus just as America is.

Sites like BBC allow a breakdown of the coronavirus pandemic and the status in each country. They offer totals by deaths, death rate, and total cases along with new case daily updates. They have shown to report an increase in cases within European countries. For example, Ireland is about to crack down on their coronavirus restrictions as they have seen an increase in cases. People are being encouraged to work from home, gyms are closing along with pools and leisure centers, no essential retail stores are shutting down and weddings have been limited to six. All of these precautions are put into place, just as the rest of the world, to protects their citizens from the pandemic and slow the spread.

Other countries, such as India, are fighting different battles when it comes to the coronavirus. False information spread via the internet is reaching havoc throughout as many minority communities are missing out on reliable news sources as so many unverified sources are popping up. All of these "fake news" sites attacked different issues within the countries and almost all of them made tensions rise within the religious communities. So this country is not only battling a pandemic and their own political issues, they must also battle hackers and a religious feud that has begun.

The entire world is battling the same monster, a global pandemic. Some countries are opening and doing well, others are forced to crack down on the restrictions and force people back into their homes. While others, such as India, are facing issues brought about by this virus, a multitude of misinformation spread. While as Americans we get annoyed that this is all we hear about, and COVID protocol is all we practice, we must remember. We are all in this together.
