Assignment Nineteen - Classmate Blog Critique

All the Right Things

Becoming a Communications major was a scary but exciting adventure. As a sophomore I had already changed my major twice, and feared falling behind or being behind my peers, but my first ever communications class set my mind at ease. Professor Reppert is, simply put, the best. No, this is not a ploy to get brownie points, ask anyone I talk to, I am beyond glad to have him as a professor. He teaches interactively, pushes students to do their best but is understanding when life gets in the way, and he is always excited to teach. While it may seem like having a great teacher can make a major change easier, that's not all. My classmates and peers are some of the smartest and most hardworking people I know. I am often in awe of their work and love the ability to look at their work throughout the semester. For this particular class, Reporting and Writing for the Mass Media, Sydney Wader keeps and excellent blog, and one that I look at often!

As I have had Sydney in classes before, it is no surprise to me that I liked her work this semester. The one thing that immediately stood out to me was simply the aesthetic of her blog. It just looked easy, and as I took a dive into her work, I realized just how easy to manage it was. Her latest post is on display first and then you just scroll down to see every one that came before it, I truly believe that in a blogging course, looks play a major role in what makes an attractive and successful blog, Sydney did a great job with her layout. Along with looks, Sydney's content backs up the aesthetic. She adds her own personal flair to each assignment, using a more relaxed, conversational tone within her work it makes it easier and more enjoyable to read. The level of interactivity within her assignments prove that they are well thought out and well researched. All around Sydney provided an attractive, well researched, and easily manageable blog this semester!

While Sydney's blog is the only one I discussed in detail today, I want to congratulate all of my class mates on an excellent semester, we made it! This year has been one like no other, and if you have all struggled like I have getting a routine and having to learn a new way, I applaud you all for your work this semester. It is a pleasure to read your work and see how far all of us have come throughout the semester as each of you develops "your own personal writing style."
